Three generations of speedway racing leads to the rebirth of Baretta Racing.
With his father and Uncle being pioneers in the Australian Speedway scene, it was no question Brett Lacey would follow in their footsteps.
Quickly rising through the oval track ranks, Baretta Racing was first established late in 1983 when on returning from a successful racing season in the United States, Brett built his first sprintcar chassis and called it the BARETTA.
After a few years of testing and many changes to the design and handling he went on to become the first and only driver to win the Australian Sprincar Championship in a car that he designed and built himself.

Several well known drivers like Nippa Lacey, George Tatnell, David Anderson, John Kelly, Chas Collandro, Stephen Gall all shared success in their Baretta Chassis.
A total of 17 Baretta’s were built, 13 for customers and 4 for himself.
